Confirming the Panel Core for a Wood-Veneer Enquiry

A wood veneer face can appear on different panel constructions. Identify the core as well as the finish when you enquire about veneered panels.

A wood veneer face can appear on different panel constructions. The supplier catalogue shows aluminium sheet, aluminium honeycomb and wood-core composite examples. Identify the core as well as the finish when you enquire.

Three Constructions in the Catalogue

Veneered aluminium sheet: veneer bonded to an aluminium sheet substrate. Veneered honeycomb panel: veneer over aluminium face and back sheets with an aluminium honeycomb core. Aluminium-wood composite joinery panels: examples in the furniture series whose structure drawings show wood-based cores such as plywood, LSB or solid wood.

Why the Core Must Be Identified

A wood-core composite panel is not an all-aluminium panel, and the two do not share the same behaviour or the same enquiry details. Because the same veneer finish can be applied to different cores, the finish alone does not identify the product.

What to Check on Your Drawings

Mark the visible faces and edges, because the core is often visible at exposed edges. Note hardware positions for joinery parts, since hinge, lock and pull preparation depends on the core construction. Note any thickness requirement you already have.

How to Send the Enquiry

Send the drawing with the core you want, or describe the application and let us check the suitable constructions with the manufacturing partner. The products pages and the joinery components page on this website describe each construction in more detail.
